West Sumatra is a province located on the western coast of the island of Sumatra in Indonesia.

The eruption created a crater, which became the lake. Mount Talang has erupted several times between 1833 and 2007, and its activity has fluctuated between “watchful” and “warning” status from 2005 to 2017.

Located at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level, Danau Talang is surrounded by productive land for farming and plantation activities.

Lake Talang has a surface area of approximately 6 square kilometers.
