    Point of interests:

    1. Unique Architecture (Mosque with Minang Customary Nuance) The Great Mosque of West Sumatra has the same function as other mosques, which is as a place for worship in Padang City. The mosque is already very famous in all areas, even throughout Indonesia. Its unique architecture is a trademark of this mosque.
    2. The dome of the mosque is shaped like a pointed spear on four sides, designed like Gonjong which is found in a Rumah Gadang. This makes the mosque an icon of Padang City and West Sumatra, and it is heavily imbued with Minangkabau customs. The dome, which is like Gonjong, is then combined with Islamic nuances with the carvings of the asmaul husna and calligraphy with gold-colored ink in the main room.
    3. Mosque with 1000 Doors This mosque, known as the “1000 door mosque”, is so named because the Great Mosque of West Sumatra has many ventilation doors, making it look beautiful and magnificent. And the main door to enter the mosque is 17 pieces. This is a unique attraction for those who want to visit the Great Mosque of West Sumatra while enjoying the beauty of the mosque.
    4. The Great Mosque of West Sumatra also serves as a safe haven for the community in case of emergency. The second floor of the mosque, which is used as a prayer area, can also be utilized as an assembly point for the community during a tsunami or other natural disaster. With its large capacity of 20,000 people, the mosque can provide shelter and safety to a large number of people in times of crisis. The mosque is equipped with the necessary facilities and resources to support the community during an emergency, making it an important asset to the community beyond its religious function.
